Apologies for even doubting you(!) ha! - just a day but what a day. Great teaching, wonderful hospitality and I LOVE your approach, gentle, confident and inspiring confidence in me. I'm hooked, see you next week and with your teaching I'll be an artist in oh say - 4 weeks?!!! Tom P.S. dont put the painting on the web site - wait for abit!! "
'Caroline is so talented she can make a painting out of a
washing up bowl, I was astounded at her capability
to paint anything in any style. Bill
'We haven't had to think of a thing. Great organisation, huge generosity, enormous friendliness and Caroline I have to tell you this now. YOU ARE FANTASTIC! Nikki
In one leap, with your tuition I came from an amateur to a professional (well I like to think so!) Thanks Caroline, never thought I'd be able to do what I did. Just worried that without you being there I won't be able to do it again' Colin
|
"Caroline was such an excellent teacher - so generous in passing on tips and techniques. She also seemed to be able to draw (sorry about the pun)out the best in us. I can truthfully say the three pictures I produced were the best I have ever done - they were recognisable to the subject matter !!!!! ". Pam

"The Tutor was Caroline Hulse, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. She was an excellent Tutor and must be the most highly qualified I have encountered. I learned many new 'things" - well worth the time and effort".

Hi Caroline,
Just to say a BIG thank you for a fabulous weekend. I agree totally that it was a great group, interesting and able to mix well and support each other. I felt very emboldened by my efforts and have just hung no 1 bark on the hall wall, colours go well and it looks great -even better that we can turn it sideways when we want to change!
I'll be back again sometime...
Many many thanks Elaine

Dear Caroline, Thank you so much for yesterday’s class. I found it invaluable from start to finish and have learnt an awful lot in a short space of time.
Prior to meeting you I wasn’t too confident in my ability. However, following your advice and kind words I now have a lot more confidence and knowledge to keep on painting. I have also found the grid to help with the Golden Mean on my camera so hopefully I can produce lots of excellent (rather than lucky!!) material to work from in the future.
I will keep working hard practicing these new techniques and am already looking forward to booking another day with you later this year.
Thanks again, you are a very inspiring lady. Kind Regards, Tony Collins

Caroline, having just completed a 3 day 'improvers' course, I cannot thank you enough for having the patience and resilience to find (more like, excavate...) the frustrated artist in me. On day one, I was ready to give up and go home, as I just could not deal with abstract concepts. However, you guided me through the fear/pain barrier and I now feel bolder, braver and ready to tackle my future subjects with renewed energy, enthusiasm, and loads more colour!
To any would be artist I say - you will never know unless you give it a try.... Thank you Caroline, I'll be back!! H
(Thank goodness this lovely lady perservered because just look what she created - sensational!! ) Caroline

Hi Caroline,
Goodness, what a magical three days; I feel both exhilarated and content, which I didn't know was possible at the same time! The warmth and hospitality shown by yourself and Robin, made the studio homely and everyone feel welcome. Caroline, your enthusiasm, sense of fun and passion for painting, is uplifting and infectious and it all combined to make a unique and special atmosphere. My friend Linda and I loved it and came away bursting with knowledge!
I especially valued your friendly, yet honest opinion of my work, as I'm keen to keep growing and learning. I've come away with the courage to make the changes necessary to see how far I can succeed. Thank you Caroline.
Kind regards,
Linda McCarthy - Feb 2011

Dear Caroline,
Thank you so much for a truly memorable week end, you
some how managed to get me to produce the most exciting , largest (by
far!), most demanding painting of my life. You challenged, supported,
advised in all the right ways and seemed to instinctively know how to
get the best from me, quite amazing.
The reaction when I got home was
great, as I asked them how it made them feel and what the picture said
to them, I had roses, souls, life's journey - phew !!! not bad for a
few pebbles on a beach.
So, thank you, you are an inspiring person and
great fun, I had a fantastic time and the company was terrific. I think
you will have a lovely time in Spain.
Take care Chris x Jan 2011

Hi Caroline,
I just need to drop you a line once, to thank you for yet another fabulous weekend, for me and my Mum. I am a “returner” as is my Mum, for the fourth time, every time we learn something so new and vital that we can’t fail but improve our painting technique and enjoyment of art.
Your encouragement and positive spin on every little crisis I encountered was so inspirational.
Your attention to detail whilst travelling abroad has given me the confidence to include my mother, aged 80 (sorry Mum for letting them in on your secret) in my next trip to Spain.
Until the Spring, once again thank you. Kind regards Margaret Marks Jan 2011

I now know why they are 'beating a path to your door'!!
4 years I've spent learning how to paint.
Six sessions at JoeDaisy and I learnt more in one day than 4 years!!
Vital information from you - NO-ONE has ever given me - composition, tonal values, focal points, concepts, mood boards - everything. AND YOUR TOP TIPS AND FORMULA - well mind blowing!!!
TOTALLY FANTASTIC. Wish I'd found you 4 years ago and not wasted my time with 'fiddly, pointless sessions'!!!!! Carrie |
"This is the best painting course. I'm a serial course taker and NEVER have I had so much quality and revealing teaching.
Not just that but the whole package - the guest house, the studio, the village, the food, the welcome, the individual personal space, the feeling of being valued and not another number - I just didn't want to leave.
I am SERIOUSLY thinking of moving nearer to you, my whole life feels as if it has changed by a chance encounter of the web site and then Caroline and her team. Phew, just amazing and life changing???" (wanted name witheld). |
Hi Caroline
"I just wanted to email to thank you again for a fantastic three days last weekend.
You have a great teaching style – very positive and supportive – and I really had the feeling of being able to tap into your own education, training, experience and talents, and I think it’s quite rare for creative people to be so generous in sharing at this level.
My aim for the weekend was to discover and release my own personal style, and I feel strongly I was able to do this. I’m brimming with enthusiasm to continue my exploration of woodland through painting, with more single-mindedness, confidence and new skills. Best wishes" Mr Jez

"Hi Caroline and Kat,
Just wanted to say a massive thank you for such a rewarding three days on the portrait course. The boys and I had our eyes opened to what we could achieve when painting portraits and we now have 14 canvases to prove that we can actually do it. The course was simply brilliant with just the right balance of teaching and hands-on artistry, giving us the confidence to experiment with different styles whilst still building from the basics that deliver a recognisable portrait. We each achieved far more than we thought possible before coming on the course, and not only that, we had fun doing it. Well done for making a difficult subject seem easy! We look forward to seeing you again soon! All the best", Richard, (Jamie and Daniel) Feb 2010

"Hi Caroline

Thanks so much and hopefully see you again.

"Caroline. I know it was a few weeks ago but I wanted to thank you for a brilliant creative weekend.I learnt more in 2 days than I have done in years.I knew how I wanted to paint but didnt know the techniques. You have inspired me so much and it was a lovely atmosphere and interesting people to share it with.I will be back for another weekend and a spanish trip. You are so patient and encouraging when teaching.I went home inspired yet rested.

"Well, I just tried another provider and it just reafirms my belief - JoeDaisy is the best. This other tutor (on a different course)
rubbed my drawing out - put in his own and then repainted it
- after I had painted it!! What was that all about? I thought it
should be about me and not him!! So yes, you are the best
- with YOU it is about US and you never touch our paintings!!
Thanks reaffirmation made - I'll be back next year! Valerie. |
'This is Brilliant. I don't know how you do it. Such energy,
such enthusiam, such exceptional teaching & great products.
As I think I told you - I've spent 3 years at art school and never
learnt any of what I learnt with you. I think I said during the weekend
'this is brilliant' at least 321 times! ' Nancy - Feb 2009

Caroline " I just want to thank you for the weekend.
It was so invigorating, and surprisingly, great fun.
I feel I have learnt a lot--- and that's down to you.
Thanks" Howard. |
Dear Caroline et all at Joe Daisy
"Thank you thank you thank you for a great weekend, I thought I was stuck in copy and follow mode from boring painting books which fill the shelves of Waterstones.
Getting out of the bookshop and into your studio is the best choice I ever made. I feel you have opened a whole new world of possibility for me and my painting. More More More I will be back"
Stephen
PS Ive been telling everyone how great it is…expect more bookings !

Caroline & Colin,
A quick big thank you for a fantastic weekend. I arrived back home so relaxed and happy and proud of myself!!
You have created a great atmosphere up there and it’s incredibly inspiring.
My giant cucumbers, that actually turned out pretty much like cactuses in the end, are happily hanging on the guest room wall looking like they’ve been painted by somebody who knows what they are doing!
Can’t wait to come back for more.
Hope to see you soon! Ancki

"Caroline really is different. I've been on many courses and they 'part teach you' almost as if they want your money to learn more.
Caroline is different, she teaches you everything you REALLY need to know, so you go away confident and pretty excited. Becuase it is so good, you want to come back anyway. This really is pretty exciting and different teaching - you get your money's worth and 100% more. and I never write thank yous!" Brenda |
'Thank you so so much for such a wonderful painting experience.
When I look at the photograph I can't believe
I painted it - but I did , every brush stroke is mine.
Caroline you are such a generous, inspiring teacher,
I can't wait to return to JoeDaisy.
Alex thank you for taking such good care of us ,
for the delicious lunches and for going the extra miles
and delivering me all the way to Heathrow, a kindness I did not
expect but very much appreciated. I know of no other organisation
that takes such good care of it's clients! Geraldine |
"The course was outstandingly good. Intensive, yet somehow relaxed and inspirational. Course content just flowed from one subject to another with ease &, exceptional cleverness, so I was learning without being lectured! I'm sort of in shock as to what I acheived and after three days I'm still marvelling at how much I learnt in a casual but exceptional way.
Quite incredible!" Bob
|
"Caroline was brilliant - she has a unique ability to inspire and encourage yet pointed out my shortcomings in a refreshingly direct yet unintimidating way.
I learnt a huge amount. There was a great atmosphere in the studio - we were really made to feel at home and relax. Fantastic tutor, great work space, terrific atmosphere. What more could anyone ask for?"
Ed |
| Just wanted to thank you both for a fabulous weekend. I am feeling very
depressed this morning as the reality of work has hit and all I want to do
is paint. You are very clever Caroline, and your teaching is brilliant! The
whole atmosphere of the studio was lovely and Alex's hospitality was
appreciated. The paintings from Saturday have already been put up in my two
daughters' bedrooms, but I think 'Whitby' will be a 'work in progress' for a
long time.
Hope to get back as soon as possible probably on the abstract weekend. Jane |
I would like to thank you very much for a
most fantastic week end. I really enjoyed the wk end
& learnt so much ! Your approach is so good .
The time passed so quickly & although we were all
working so intensively for the two days,
I felt exhilarated , very uplifted & invigorated!. Aruna
|
"You really are an excellent teacher...allowing each member in the
group to develop individual style, sharing your time equally between all of
us ( no favourites, very important!) In fact, you were really like some kind
of super painting angel flitting between us all offering advice and making
suggestions, lifting flagging spirits as we all wrestled with this desire to
create ! Thank you so much !" Rose - |
| This is to say thank you once again for the fantastic experience of the last two days. The course was exactly what I needed. I am so energised, inspired, excited and passionate again about my painting and you have helped me achieve all of that alongside giving me many new technical skills. Above all I feel I have come away with a new way of seeing - AND HOW FANTASTIC IS THAT - in just two days. I hope I will be back very soon for some more of the magic that seems to pervade your studio. Thanks to Alex too for making us feel so welcome and 'at home'. Take care and much love - Maggie Somerset |
This is above EXCELLENT. This was the BEST two days I've ever spent painting. I painted in acrylics, oils and mixed media. Learnt everything I thought a degree course would cover - in JUST two days. Couldn't believe it. STUNNING. Caroline is the best tutor I've come across, immensely talented but able to COMPLETELY assess our needs and correct our painting. BREATHTAKING - HONESTLY it's such a revelation to find something like this. I think she needs a medal or tea with the Queen OR SOMETHING! Thank you SO much! Sue
|
"I have to say - NOBODY does it better! Great environment,
excellent
materials, I was like a kid in a candy shop -
so relaxed but just right
for learning and Caroline is the BEST!
She gave her all and her all is
JUST PERFECT! Sue |
'The Best Course I've been on' Marie June 2008
Thank
you so much for the photos and for a fantastic course. Also thanks for
your kindness and patience when I was feeling a bit unsure of myself! I
learnt so much and am inspired to carry on. I am back in work today but
all I wanted to do was stay home and paint. You really helped me to
believe that I can be an artist which is something I have wanted to do
for longer than I care to remember! I am going to set up a studio in
the spare room and will definitely be buying artists quality paint as
it was a joy to use.
Can you also say thank you to Alex for me. He was so kind and helpful
and I really appreciate the lifts to and from the station and the
farm. |
'SO loved the week-end. After a nights
sleep
I'm brimming
with enthusiasm and
good intentions.
You were wonderful;
you provided us with an instinctive
balance of
constructive support,
encouragement and space
to get on
uninterrupted. Thank you.
It's not difficult
to
see why people return to you
again
and again' - Max -
