Watercolour is the most difficult medium to use.
'Watercolour' is pigment mixed with gum arabic for true watercolour paint. However, gouache mixed with water is also watercolour. As is acrylic paint mixed with water. All these mediums can be described as 'watercolour'
We use Cotman watercolour paints which are the best for the beginner - because they contain an even pigment over the colour range. Which means the same amount of water added to any colour, will give you same transparency.
Watercolour painting is a careful controlled painting process. It relies on a good drawing and a very light touch. Understanding the transparency of your paints is also essential.
